On the Road to Cologne

It is day 6 of the Germany trip and I'm loving every minute so far. We are on our way to Cologne on a double-decker bus.  The country is just as beautiful as I expected. It's been a lot to adjust to tho-- I wish I had learned more German before being thrown into it all. The German classes have been helping, I can actually recognize a few words out of some conversations. Meeting our IFT buddies has been the best part in my opinion. I get along very well with mine, and I am so glad I have a native German to help me get around for at least some of my time here! Yesterday we went over to Krystyn's partner Imke's apartment. We made crepes filled with German chocolates, which are soooooo much better than the usual m&ms we're used to. We sat talking for about four hours before it was time to meet other USF students at Maiwoche. Maiwoche was another experience altogether. We had decided to meet a group at the giant keg by St. Mary's church.... We didn't anticipate how crowded the streets would be!!! I ordered an Erdbeerbowle, which is a strawberry wine drink only available during the May week. It was delicious!! Krystyn ordered some bratwurst and I decided to try some for the full German experience. It upset my stomach a little bit later, not because of the meat itself (which I have to admit was pretty yummy) but because I haven't had meat in almost a year :S Oh well, no regrets! That's pretty much been my trip so far tho. I can't wait to see what else I'll get to experience. (:
