193 Steps and endless miles

Last night we ventured to the top of the bell tower during the night watchman's tour. Unfortunately they haven't upgraded to an elevator just yet, so we had the great pleasure of climbing about 10 stories of stairs. The view at the top was definitely worth it, though. The tour in general was probably my favorite part of the trip so far. We learned all about the men who used to watch over the city while everyone was sleeping, and got to see where they kept the prisoners. I can't speak for everyone, but I eat that stuff right up. Learning about the local history and seeing the secret tunnels was one of the primary things that drew me here, and I hope our trip contains at least a few more tours like it. I'm so excited to see what's in store for us in the other cities!!
